Walu (Mask) - Dogon Tribe

The masked police' - this mask is the protector of the masks. Their job is to ensure that the dama (funeral) or the celebration of Sigui (when the Sigui star reveals itself) are not witnessed closely by those who don't speak the sacred masked language of 'Siguiso'. This includes uncircumcised children, women not born in the year of Sigui, or women who are under the age of sixty.
