They are truly unique!
A remarkable print starts with exceptional paper.
Each Exhibition Editon print is created on paper with a legacy of over 400 years. Sourced from one of the oldest paper mills still in operation, my no-compromise approach begins with the raw materials.
Before creating an Exhibition Edition print, I personally produce several proof images. Using state of the art colour accurate computer monitors, these are then compared and tweaked until they are an identical match to the digital negative.
Only once I am happy that the colours of the printed proofs are an identical match, a final 'Artist Proof’ is created. The Artist Proof is unique to the edition run; its purpose is to act as a physical reference for the Exhibition Edition print to be compared.
If they do not match, the Exhibition Edition print is redone.
All large format Giclée and chemical prints are completed alongside my most trusted print technician. We work together to ensure that each print is as it should be; colour accurate and blemish-free.
The printing process is very much hands-on, symbolised by the artist's stamp embossed at the bottom of each completed photograph.
Once the Exhibition Edition Print is complete, it moves to the workshop to be framed.
First, the print is mounted on an archival grade, acid-free substrate. This ensures the photograph remains flat, essential for areas with higher humidity. This substrate also serves as a protective backing for the print and frame, ensuring further longevity.
Allowing for some of the 'paperwhite' the photograph is then double mounted and set into a hardwood box frame. The edges of the frame are built up with the same mount material, adding to the illusion of depth.
Sourced from Switzerland, a museum-grade, anti-reflective and optically clear glass finishes off the framing process. With its 99% UV protective properties, you can also rest assured that the photograph will look incredible for years to come.
Regardless of where in the world it's going, each Exhibition Edition photograph receives a thorough final inspection.
Assuming all is as it should be, a certificate of authenticity is issued.
If it isn't, it gets redone.
